Hygiene should be maintained on our bodies, home surrounding and utensils and women should be the centre of cleanliness in their homes since they are home longer hours than men.

Vice-mayor for social affairs in Gisagara district, Donatille Uwingabiye told women to care for their children’s hygiene and general cleanliness especially food utensils to avoid poor-hygiene related diseases.

“Cleanliness makes our daily life and since women are responsible for almost everything at home, they should be more concerned with the children, utensils, surroundings and their own hygiene.”

Jeanne Mukamabano, a resident of Kigembe sector in Gisagara district lamented: “during the family week, I realized its poor hygiene that has been making my children suffer from roundworms.

After knowing the importance of hygiene and how to prepare a balanced diet for my children, I will strive to make it a habit and instill it in all members of the family, she adds.

Gisagara district authorities promised to continue sensitizing women on cleanliness until every home in the area will have good hygiene standards.
