Rwanda | Rusizi: women attend workshop on cooperative management

W omen representatives of different cooperatives operating from Rusizi district promised to work hard creating projects that will provide jobs and encourage their fellow women to join cooperatives as the way out of poverty.

20 women who represented their cooperatives said this on the 3rd.Nov.2012 during the closure of the 5 day training on cooperative management and productive projects creation.

For their goals achieved, women need to develop self confidence and encourage other women who haven’t joined cooperatives yet to join them as J. Damascene MUVUNYI the coordinator of PDED project of HELPAGE Rwanda in the western province of Rwanda explained.

Oscar NZEYIMANA the mayor of Rusizi district during the closing ceremony of this training also asked the trainees to encourage their fellows to work together as a team towards long lasting development.

Women who attended this training were made to understand their roles in creating lasting development instead of leaving it to the mercies of men. They also understood each person’s role in the development of the cooperative where both men and women are to work towards its development.

This 5 days training in Rusizi district trained 20 women representatives from different cooperatives and was prepared by HELPAGE Rwanda with the support of National Women Council and they were presented with certificates after the training.
