One of exemplary men who work with women is James Niyonshuti, a man helping his wife as a professional in laying brick, tiles making and get more profit to develop their families than other members in Ingorihujababyeyi cooperative.

Ingorihujababyeyi cooperative is a women’s cooperative they formed to stop unprofitable businesses like petty trading of fruits in basins or moving around looking for place to cultivate for food.

Most of the members of Ingorihujababyeyi cooperative are widows and some women have husbands but James Niyonshuti is the only man who joins the women to support the wife to make money and together develop their family.

“I work as a night watchman” says James Niyonshuti. “In the morning when I get home, I fetch clay and my wife lays bricks, I take a break later in the day and rest so that I can go to work in the night feeling fresh.”

Because fetching clay is the most difficult task in this kind of work, Mrs. Niyonshuti lays many bricks during the time she should be fetching clay making enough production for the day.

As Niyonshuti’s family is working together, as women in Ingorihujababyeyi cooperative pay men who do temporally work to help lay ricks to end the day with considerable amount of bricks.

The Niyonshuti family gains more than any other member as in two weeks time, they have about Rwf40000 double of what others get in the same period without spending on help and working together has developed their relationships and respect for each other.
