Members of Hugukirwa women’s cooperative in Muko sector in Musanze district have said that they have attained social and economic development ever since the cooperative started in 2007.
Though started with 20 members, Hugukirwa cooperative has 32 members so far and other women have portrayed willingness to be part of it.
Eutarie Mukagahutu, member of Hugukirwa cooperative explains that the cooperative built houses for the homeless members.
“I now pay school fees for my high school children and higher institutions all because of this cooperative,” Mukagahutu adds.
The cooperative members make decorative pieces of art, table placemats made of banana fibres, paper beads that they use to make curtains and baskets.
Apart from improving the standards of living of all the members, Hugukirwa cooperative represents other artistry cooperatives in Muko sector in Musanze district.
