Pregnant and breastfeeding women need a lot of care
There are so many things a pregnant and breast feeding woman needs to do to make sure that her health and that of the baby is in proper condition, as said by the ministry of health.
In the first place, these women need to go for antenatal care at least 4 times during the pregnancy which can be started at the first trimester.
Again these women need to drink a lot of water during the pregnancy and also to avoid drinking tea and coffee which may affect their unborn babies.
These people again need some proteins and vitamins especially Vitamin A which they can take months after giving birth to help their babies get it in the breast milk, food with Iron and some Folic Acid tablets which they can even take 3 weeks after giving birth and also food with salt that has some iodine to fight disease related to lack of it.
Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers need to be so conscious about their hygiene to prevent diseases like diarrhoea that could affect them and their babies. With this ,they are advised to always wash fruits, vegetables before eating them and also to take good care of the utensils they use for both them and the babies, and to wash their hands with soap and water before preparing any meal and after or even using the toilette, take good care of the baby’s hygiene at all times.
To take some good rest and also to avoid tiring work especially during the last 3 months of the pregnancy.
To sleep under a mosquito net to prevent malaria that since during this period they are so vulnerable to it plus their babies.
To avoid alcohol, smoking among the many drug abuses.
